GOD AND HIS WORD
The Bible is God’s unique revelation to people. It is the inspired, infallible Word of God, and the supreme and final authority on all matters upon which it teaches. No other writings are vested with such divine authority. 2 Timothy 3:16-17
There is only one God, creator of heaven and earth, who exists eternally as three persons — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, each fully God yet each personally distinct from the other. Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Deuteronomy 6:4
Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was born of the Virgin Mary, lived a sinless human life, willingly took upon Himself all of our sins, died and rose again bodily, and is at the right hand of the Father as our advocate and mediator. Isaiah 7:14, Matthew 1:18-25, Luke 1:35
The Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin and draws people to Christ. He also indwells all believers. He is available to empower them to lead Christ-like lives, and gives them spiritual gifts with which to serve the church and reach out to a lost and needy world. John 14:16; 1 Corinthians 12:13
MANKIND, SIN AND SALVATION
All people are created in God’s image and matter deeply to Him. Central to the message of the Bible is that God loves people, and invites them to live in communion with Himself. Genesis 1:26-27
Apart from Jesus Christ, all people are spiritually lost because of sin, deserve the judgment of God. However, God gives salvation and eternal life to anyone who trusts in Jesus Christ and in His sacrifice on his or her behalf. Salvation cannot be earned through personal goodness or human effort. It is a gift that must be received by humble repentance and faith in Christ and His finished work on the cross. Romans 6:23; 2 Corinthians 5:21; 1 John 4:10; Hebrews 9:26,28; Ephesians 2:8-9
Death seals the eternal destiny of each person. At the final judgment, unbelievers will be separated from God into condemnation. Hebrews 10: 26-27; John 5:24-30
JESUS’ RESURRECTION and SECOND APPEARANCE
The Lord Jesus Christ physically rose from the dead, and ascended in His glorified body to sit at the right hand of God. Someday, He will return to take His people to be with Him in Heaven, and to consummate history and fulfil the eternal plan of God. Mark 16:19; Acts 1:3-9; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17
THE CHURCH
All believers are members of the body of Christ, the one true church, and Christ is the Head of the Church. All believers can freely approach God. Spiritual unity is to be expressed among Christians by acceptance and love of one another. Acts 2:44-47; Colossians 1:18; 1 Peter 2:9; Hebrews 10:19-22.
The local church is a congregation of believers who gather for worship, prayer, instruction, encouragement, mutual accountability, and community with each other and to fulfil the Great Commission — reaching lost people and growing them into fully devoted followers of Christ. Acts 2:42; Matthew 28:19-20
When a person accepts Jesus Christ as their Saviour, they should be baptised by immersion, as practised by the early church. Acts 8:36-38; Romans 6:4; Colossians 2:12
It is a privilege and responsibility of all believers to remember the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus by sharing Communion together. We do this until He returns. Acts 20:7; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26
